Bahá’ís throughout the world gather today to celebrate the First Day of the Month of Qudrat [Power]
“Sonnet in Honour of the Feast of Qudrat
Powers through gates summoned open in the end through fire:
Gold in purity must die within the crucible, egregious loss,
Its greatest denial heat and separation at last remains; dross
Is disavowed as the flaw is banished. Purities inspired thus will never tire.
Mastery rests within the living plant’s sacrifice is weighed in light,
And in the deepest living rite the rose is brought to bud and growth allied
In metamorphosis to the election of thorn and bloom, letters that realise
A brief and glorious progeny in a word for but a day or two, subtleties in flight,
Its might but seconds at the zenith. The third stock—earthbound natural soup—
Promises manifest in mobile, seeing, hearing, and feeling once again;
Eucaryotic matter consumes the ambrosias of light and fire and reign
Supreme throughout the binding shields of land and sea in troops.
All hours plaited, shadows of immortality rest in signs*
Of death where nothing is and life where nothing lasts beyond its time.
*O SON OF MAN!
For everything there is a sign. The sign of love is fortitude under My decree and patience under My trials. –Bahá’u’lláh, The Arabic Hidden Words
